Can I avoid Mercari fees by selling locally?
No fee break for local deals. For a guaranteed $0 in fees, post the item free on Brixaz — buyers pick up locally, there is no commission or payment processing, and you keep 100% of the price.
Did Mercari bring back selling fees?
Yes. Mercari dropped seller fees to 0% in March 2024 and shifted costs to buyers, then reinstated a flat 10% seller fee on January 6, 2025 for listings created or updated from that date. The old separate 2.9% + $0.50 payment-processing charge stayed eliminated.
Does Mercari's 10% apply to shipping?
Yes, when the buyer pays you for shipping: the 10% is charged on the item price plus buyer-paid shipping. Buyers also pay a separate 3.6% Buyer Protection fee at checkout, but that one is charged to them — it doesn't come out of your payout.
